BE ENCOURAGED

A 31-Day Devotional — Daily Strength for the Journey

Be Encouraged Ministries of Greater Calvary Bible Church International
Compiled by Servant Leader Rev. Dr. Verlean Hailey

Foreword

A Word Before You Begin

“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

This devotional was born out of a deep conviction — that the people of God deserve more than survival. You were created for something greater than endurance alone. BE ENCOURAGED is an intentional journey, curated with prayer and purpose, designed to move you from where you are to where God has always intended you to be.

Over these 31 days, we believe you will experience real and lasting IMPACT — not simply as a word, but as a living reality unfolding in your heart, your home, and your calling.

The Impact of This Journey

I

Intimacy

Drawing closer to the heart of God through stillness, surrender, and Scripture.

M

Mindset

The renewing of your mind is not optional — it is essential.

P

Purpose

These 31 days will awaken and affirm the divine assignment on your life.

A

Action

Faith without works is incomplete — from hearing the Word to living it boldly.

C

Consecration

To be set apart is not a punishment; it is a privilege.

T

Transformation

You will not be the same person at Day 31 that you were at Day 1.

We, the BE ENCOURAGED Ministries of Greater Calvary Bible Church International, offer these words as a gift to your spirit. Read slowly. Pray deeply. Reflect honestly. And receive every word as a personal invitation from a God who loves you completely, knows you fully, and is cheering you forward.

“May these pages become sacred ground — the place where God meets you, moves in you, and shines through you.”

Week 1

BE GROUNDED

Identity. Stability. God's presence. The foundation of encouragement.

Day 1 BE STILL
Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10
Devotional

Stillness is not the absence of movement; it is the presence of awareness. God invites you into a posture where your soul stops striving long enough to remember who is truly in control. Encouragement begins here — in the quiet recognition that God is God, and you are held.

When life pulls at you from every direction, stillness becomes an act of spiritual rebellion. You silence the noise, hush the fear, and anchor your heart in the One who never shifts. Today, God whispers, “Let Me be God for you.”

Reflection

Where is God inviting you to stop striving and simply trust?

Prayer

Lord, settle my spirit. Quiet my racing thoughts. Help me know You in the stillness.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are safest when you are still in Him.

Day 2 BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE
Be strong and of a good courage…
Joshua 1:9
Devotional

Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the decision to move forward while fear watches helplessly. God commands strength because He supplies it. Joshua was stepping into unfamiliar territory, but God's presence was the guarantee that he would not fail.

Your courage is not self-made — it is God-breathed. When He says “Be strong,” He is not demanding something from you; He is awakening something within you.

Reflection

What step requires courage from you this week?

Prayer

Father, strengthen my heart. Let courage rise in me because You are with me.

BE ENCOURAGED… Courage is your inheritance, not your burden.

Day 3 BE NOT AFRAID
Fear thou not… be not dismayed…
Isaiah 41:10
Devotional

Fear is a thief that tries to convince you that God has abandoned His post. But Isaiah reminds us that God upholds, strengthens, and helps. Fear loses its grip when you remember who holds your hand.

God does not shame you for feeling afraid — He simply refuses to let fear have the final word. His presence is your antidote. His nearness is your courage.

Reflection

What fear has been speaking louder than God's promise?

Prayer

Lord, I release fear and receive Your strength. Hold me steady.

BE ENCOURAGED… Fear cannot stay where God's presence dwells.

Day 4 BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS
…lo, I am with you always…
Matthew 28:20
Devotional

Encouragement deepens when you realize God is not seasonal. He is not present only in the holy moments — He is Emmanuel in the ordinary, the painful, the confusing, and the joyful.

Jesus' final words were not instructions but assurance. Before He sent you, He secured you. Before He commissioned you, He covered you. You never walk alone — not for a moment.

Reflection

Where have you forgotten that God is with you?

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for Your constant presence. Help me sense You in every step.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are never out of God's sight or reach.

Day 5 BE STRONG, FEAR NOT
Be strong, fear not…
Isaiah 35:4
Devotional

Strength and fearlessness are not personality traits — they are spiritual positions. Isaiah speaks to weary hearts, reminding them that God Himself will come and save.

Your strength is not measured by how much you can carry but by how much you can surrender. Fear fades when you trust the God who fights for you.

Reflection

What burden do you need to surrender to God today?

Prayer

God, strengthen me where I feel weak. Replace fear with faith.

BE ENCOURAGED… Strength rises when surrender becomes your strategy.

Day 6 BE CONFIDENT OF THIS
He who began a good work in you will perform it…
Philippians 1:6
Devotional

Encouragement becomes unshakeable when you realize God finishes what He starts. You are not a half-written story or an abandoned project. Heaven is committed to your becoming.

Confidence is not arrogance — it is agreement with God's intention for your life. When you trust His process, you stop panicking over your progress.

Reflection

Where do you need to trust God's timing in your development?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the work You are doing in me. Help me trust Your pace.

BE ENCOURAGED… God is not done — and neither are you.

Week 2

BE TRANSFORMED

Renewal. Mindset. Internal alignment.

Day 7 BE TRANSFORMED
Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…
Romans 12:2
Devotional

Transformation is not a moment — it is a movement. God renews your mind so He can reshape your life. Encouragement becomes sustainable when your thoughts come into agreement with God's truth.

The world tries to conform you, but God invites you to be transformed. This is the daily exchange: your thoughts for His thoughts, your perspective for His promise, your fear for His faithfulness.

Reflection

What thought pattern needs to be renewed today?

Prayer

Lord, renew my mind. Transform my thinking so I can walk in Your will.

BE ENCOURAGED… A renewed mind creates a renewed life.

Day 8 BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY
Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Peter 1:16
Devotional

Holiness is not perfection — it is separation. God calls you to be set apart, not set aside. Holiness is the courage to live differently because you belong to a different Kingdom.

Encouragement grows when you realize holiness is not a burden but a blessing. God invites you into a life where His character becomes your compass and His presence becomes your portion.

Reflection

Where is God calling you to step into deeper consecration?

Prayer

Father, make me holy as You are holy. Set my life apart for Your glory.

BE ENCOURAGED… Holiness is your heritage, not your hardship.

Day 9 BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT
…but be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18
Devotional

Encouragement becomes power when the Holy Spirit fills your life. You are not meant to live on empty. God offers continual filling — strength for today, clarity for decisions, comfort for sorrow, and fire for purpose.

Being filled is not a one-time event; it is a daily posture. You open your heart, and God pours Himself in. You surrender, and He supplies.

Reflection

Where do you need a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, fill me again. Saturate my mind, my emotions, and my steps.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are never without the power you need.

Day 10 BE DOERS OF THE WORD
Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only…
James 1:22
Devotional

Transformation becomes visible when obedience becomes your rhythm. Hearing the Word informs you; doing the Word transforms you. Encouragement grows when your faith becomes active.

God is not looking for perfection — He is looking for participation. Every act of obedience, no matter how small, becomes a seed that produces spiritual strength.

Reflection

What is one instruction from God you need to act on today?

Prayer

Lord, help me not only hear Your Word but live it boldly.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your obedience is shaping your breakthrough.

Day 11 BE WISE AS SERPENTS, HARMLESS AS DOVES
Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Matthew 10:16
Devotional

Wisdom and purity are a powerful combination. Jesus sends you into the world with a dual posture: discernment and innocence. Encouragement grows when you realize God equips you to navigate life with both sharpness and softness.

Wisdom protects you. Purity preserves you. Together, they position you to walk confidently in a complicated world without losing your Christ-like character.

Reflection

Where do you need God's wisdom and gentleness to guide you?

Prayer

Lord, sharpen my discernment and soften my heart. Make me wise and gentle.

BE ENCOURAGED… You can be both strong and soft — just like Jesus.

Day 12 BE KIND, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING
Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another…
Ephesians 4:32
Devotional

Kindness is courage. Forgiveness is freedom. Tenderness is strength. God calls you to embody His heart in a world that often wounds. Encouragement deepens when you realize that kindness is not weakness — it is Kingdom power.

Forgiveness does not excuse the offense; it releases the weight. Tenderheartedness does not make you fragile; it makes you fruitful.

Reflection

Who do you need to release, forgive, or show kindness to today?

Prayer

Father, soften my heart. Help me forgive freely and love generously.

BE ENCOURAGED… A tender heart is a powerful heart.

Week 3

BE STEADFAST

Endurance. Consistency. Spiritual maturity.

Day 13 BE STEADFAST, UNMOVEABLE
Be ye steadfast, unmoveable…
1 Corinthians 15:58
Devotional

Steadfastness is the quiet strength that refuses to bow to pressure. It is the holy stubbornness that says, “I will not be moved from what God said.” Encouragement deepens when your soul becomes anchored in truth, not tossed by emotion.

God is not asking you to be unshakeable in your own strength — He is rooting you in His. When your foundation is Christ, storms may shake you, but they cannot shift you.

Reflection

Where do you need to plant your feet and refuse to be moved?

Prayer

Lord, anchor me in Your truth. Make me steadfast in every season.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are unmoveable because your God is unshakeable.

Day 14 BE NOT WEARY IN WELL DOING
Be not weary in well doing…
Galatians 6:9
Devotional

Weariness is real, but it is not the end. God acknowledges your fatigue but reminds you that harvest is coming. Encouragement grows when you realize that your consistency is not wasted — heaven keeps record.

Sometimes the greatest warfare is simply not giving up. Your sowing is seen. Your obedience is noticed. Your faithfulness is producing a future you cannot yet see.

Reflection

Where have you been tempted to quit something God told you to continue?

Prayer

Father, renew my strength. Help me persevere until the harvest comes.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your “not yet” is not a “no” — keep going.

Day 15 BE PATIENT
Be ye also patient; establish your hearts…
James 5:8
Devotional

Patience is not passive waiting — it is active trusting. It is the spiritual discipline of believing that God's timing is perfect even when your timeline feels urgent.

Encouragement matures when your heart becomes established — rooted, settled, unhurried. God is not late; He is precise. And what He is preparing for you requires patience to receive.

Reflection

What area of your life needs patience instead of pressure?

Prayer

Lord, establish my heart. Teach me to trust Your timing.

BE ENCOURAGED… Patience is proof that you trust the God who holds your future.

Day 16 BE WATCHFUL
Be watchful…
Revelation 3:2
Devotional

Watchfulness is spiritual alertness — the ability to discern what God is doing and what the enemy is attempting. Encouragement sharpens when your eyes are open and your spirit is awake.

God calls you to be watchful not out of fear, but out of readiness. When you stay spiritually awake, you catch divine opportunities, avoid unnecessary traps, and walk with clarity.

Reflection

Where do you need to be more spiritually alert?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, awaken my discernment. Help me see what You are doing.

BE ENCOURAGED… A watchful spirit is a protected spirit.

Day 17 BE READY ALWAYS
…be ready always to give an answer…
1 Peter 3:15
Devotional

Readiness is a posture of expectation. It means living with your spiritual bags packed — prepared for God to move, speak, open doors, or shift seasons.

Encouragement becomes contagious when you can articulate the hope within you. Your story, your testimony, your journey — they are tools God uses to strengthen others. Be ready to share what God has done.

Reflection

What testimony or truth do you need to be ready to share?

Prayer

Lord, prepare my heart and my words. Make me ready to represent You well.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your story is someone else's survival guide.

Day 18 BE CONTENT
…be content with such things as ye have…
Hebrews 13:5
Devotional

Contentment is not settling — it is trusting. It is the ability to rest in what God has provided while believing for what He has promised.

Encouragement becomes sustainable when you stop comparing your journey to someone else's. Contentment frees you from striving and anchors you in gratitude. God is enough — and He will supply enough.

Reflection

Where is comparison stealing your contentment?

Prayer

Father, teach me to rest in Your provision. Make my heart content in You.

BE ENCOURAGED… Contentment is the soil where joy grows.

Week 4

BE COURAGEOUS IN ACTION

Obedience. Movement. Purpose.

Day 19 BE STRONG IN THE LORD
Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
Ephesians 6:10
Devotional

Strength in the Lord is not self-generated — it is Spirit-supplied. God never asks you to fight battles in your own power. He invites you to stand in His.

Encouragement becomes action when you stop relying on your own strength and start drawing from His endless supply. His might becomes your momentum. His power becomes your posture.

Reflection

Where have you been trying to be strong in your own strength?

Prayer

Lord, clothe me in Your strength. Let Your power be my confidence.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are strongest when you stand in Him.

Day 20 BE FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH
Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Revelation 2:10
Devotional

Faithfulness is the long obedience in the same direction. It is the quiet, consistent “yes” that heaven honors. God does not measure your success by outcomes but by obedience.

Encouragement becomes endurance when you realize that faithfulness is not about perfection — it is about persistence. God sees every sacrifice, every surrender, every step.

Reflection

Where is God calling you to remain faithful even when it's difficult?

Prayer

Father, strengthen my commitment. Help me stay faithful in every season.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your faithfulness is building a legacy heaven celebrates.

Day 21 BE RECONCILED TO GOD
…be ye reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
Devotional

Reconciliation is the restoration of closeness. God is not distant — He is drawing you near. Encouragement deepens when you realize that God wants relationship, not performance.

Every day is an invitation to return, reconnect, and realign. God is not waiting to punish you; He is waiting to embrace you.

Reflection

What part of your heart needs to come back into alignment with God?

Prayer

Lord, draw me close. Restore anything in me that has drifted.

BE ENCOURAGED… God always welcomes you home.

Day 22 BE DEVOTED TO ONE ANOTHER
Be kindly affectioned one to another…
Romans 12:10
Devotional

Devotion is love in action. It is the willingness to show up for others with consistency, compassion, and care. Encouragement becomes communal when you realize you were never meant to walk alone.

God strengthens you so you can strengthen others. Your devotion becomes a reflection of His heart — steady, warm, and faithful.

Reflection

Who is God calling you to show intentional love toward this week?

Prayer

Father, make me a vessel of Your love. Help me show up for others with grace.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your devotion is a ministry all by itself.

Day 23 BE MERCIFUL
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:36
Devotional

Mercy is the language of heaven. It is compassion in motion. God calls you to extend what He has lavished on you — forgiveness, patience, and grace.

Encouragement becomes healing when you choose mercy over judgment. Mercy frees you from bitterness and positions you to reflect the heart of the Father.

Reflection

Where do you need to extend mercy — to yourself or someone else?

Prayer

Lord, make me merciful. Help me reflect Your compassion in every interaction.

BE ENCOURAGED… Mercy makes room for miracles.

Day 24 BE GLAD AND REJOICE
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
Devotional

Joy is a choice before it becomes a feeling. Rejoicing is a declaration that God is good even when circumstances are not. Encouragement becomes celebration when you choose joy on purpose.

Rejoicing shifts atmospheres. It lifts burdens. It reminds your soul that God is still working, still present, still faithful.

Reflection

What can you rejoice about today — even if it's small?

Prayer

Father, restore my joy. Teach me to rejoice in every season.

BE ENCOURAGED… Joy is your strength — choose it boldly.

Week 5

BE A LIGHT

Overflow. Witness. Kingdom impact.

Day 25 BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING
Be anxious for nothing…
Philippians 4:6
Devotional

Anxiety drains your strength, but prayer restores it. God invites you to exchange worry for worship, panic for petition, and fear for faith. Encouragement becomes supernatural when you refuse to let anxiety be your narrator.

When you bring everything to God — the big, the small, the hidden, the heavy — His peace becomes your guard, your shield, your resting place.

Reflection

What anxiety do you need to place in God's hands today?

Prayer

Lord, I release every anxious thought. Flood me with Your peace.

BE ENCOURAGED… Peace is your portion — receive it.

Day 26 BE STRONG AND DO IT
Be strong, and do it.
1 Chronicles 28:10
Devotional

Sometimes the greatest encouragement is a simple command: Do it. Move. Act. Build. Begin. God told Solomon that the assignment was already his — he simply needed to step into it. Encouragement becomes activation when you stop waiting for perfect conditions and start trusting God's instruction.

Reflection

What assignment have you delayed that God is calling you to begin?

Prayer

Father, give me courage to act. Strengthen my hands for what You've called me to do.

BE ENCOURAGED… Your obedience unlocks what your hesitation has delayed.

Day 27 BE PERFECTLY JOINED TOGETHER
…that ye be perfectly joined together…
1 Corinthians 1:10
Devotional

Unity is a spiritual force. When hearts align, heaven moves. God calls His people to walk in agreement — not uniformity, but unity. Encouragement becomes communal when we choose connection over conflict.

Division drains. Unity strengthens. When you walk in harmony with others, you become a conduit of peace and a carrier of God's presence.

Reflection

Where is God calling you to pursue unity or reconciliation?

Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of unity. Heal every place of division in my life.

BE ENCOURAGED… Unity multiplies what isolation diminishes.

Day 28 BE IMITATORS OF GOD
Be ye therefore followers of God…
Ephesians 5:1
Devotional

To imitate God is to reflect His heart — His love, His mercy, His truth, His compassion. Encouragement becomes identity when you realize you were created to look like your Father.

You are not trying to become someone else — you are becoming who you were always meant to be.

Reflection

What attribute of God is He shaping in you right now?

Prayer

Father, help me reflect You in every word, thought, and action.

BE ENCOURAGED… You look more like your Father every day.

Day 29 BE SOBER, BE VIGILANT
Be sober, be vigilant…
1 Peter 5:8
Devotional

Sobriety is clarity. Vigilance is awareness. Together, they protect your purpose. God calls you to stay spiritually awake — not fearful, but focused.

Encouragement becomes protection when you recognize the enemy's tactics and refuse to be caught off guard. A clear mind and a watchful spirit keep you steady.

Reflection

Where do you need to regain spiritual focus or clarity?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, sharpen my vision. Keep me alert and anchored.

BE ENCOURAGED… A focused believer is a dangerous believer.

Day 30 BE ENCOURAGED (TAKE HEART)
Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Devotional

Jesus doesn't tell you to take heart because life is easy — He tells you to take heart because He has already overcome. Encouragement becomes unshakeable when it is rooted in Christ's victory, not your circumstances.

You are not fighting for victory — you are fighting from victory. His triumph is your confidence. His overcoming is your encouragement.

Reflection

Where do you need to remember that Jesus has already overcome?

Prayer

Lord, help me take heart. Let Your victory be my courage.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are standing in a victory that was won before you were born.

Day 31 BE A WITNESS
You shall be witnesses…
Acts 1:8
Devotional

This is the culmination of all 31 days: God strengthens you → transforms you → steadies you → activates you → and now He shines through you. You are a witness — not just in words, but in life. Your endurance, your obedience, your transformation, your joy, your faithfulness… all of it testifies of the God who keeps His people.

Encouragement becomes influence when your life becomes a light others can follow.

Reflection

Who needs to see Christ through your life this week?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, empower me to be a witness. Let my life reflect Your glory.

BE ENCOURAGED… You are a light — and darkness cannot comprehend it.

Closing Benediction

You Have Come From Glory to Glory

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:18

You made it. Thirty-one days of beholding, believing, and becoming. You did not simply read a devotional — you walked through a divine process. And you are not the same.

From the very first word — BE — God was extending an invitation. Not merely to do, but to become. Not just to act, but to align. Every day of this journey was a mirror held up to the glory of God, and as you gazed into it with open face, something sacred was taking place: you were being changed.

What These 31 Days Accomplished in You

Each day you were invited to BE — to take a holy posture before God. These were not merely commands. They were callings.

I

Intimacy grew.

You drew closer.

M

Mindset shifted.

You began to think differently.

P

Purpose awakened.

You remembered your assignment.

A

Action followed.

Your faith found its feet.

C

Consecration deepened.

You became more set apart.

T

Transformation occurred.

Glory to glory — just as He promised.

Now go — grounded in His presence, transformed by His truth, steadfast in His promises, courageous in your calling, and shining as a light in every room you enter.

May the God who began this good work in you be faithful to complete it.
May the Holy Spirit who filled you here continue to overflow through you there.
May every word you have read become a word you live.
May every prayer you have prayed become a testimony you tell.

You are not the same person who opened to Day 1. You are changed — from glory to glory — by the Spirit of the Lord.

BE encouraged. BE strong. BE transformed.
BE steadfast. BE courageous. BE a light.
And above all — BE His.
