The Greater Calvary Baptist Church was founded on September 26, 1984. Dr. Sterling Lands, II. received counsel and guidance from the now deceased Rev. E. M. Franklin, Vice Moderator of the St. John Landmark Association and Pastor of the St. James Baptist Church ministry, Austin, Texas that encouraged him to go forward with this new ministry.

First worship service in the Church Annex of the Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church of East Austin. We would later have to leave because services where high and they interfered with services Loyalty.

Greater Calvary Baptist Church was formally organized.

We held our first service at 1176 Oakgrove, a building formerly occupied by the Greater Love Baptist Church.

First Baptism. Candidates baptized were Sis. Donna Morgan, Bro. Dale Morgan, and Sis. Stacy Partridge

Bro. Edward Collins installed as the first Deacon.
Greater Calvary incorporated in the state of Texas.

Start-up of the Youth Development Program, soon to be known as Servant Warrior Leader Rites of Passage Process.

First service at 7517 Cameron Road, Suite 101, Austin, Texas 78752
Abundant Life Learning Center opened.
Founding elder Sister Fannie M. Littlefield went to be with the Lord.
First march on 12th street at 12:30 am to protest drug and alcohol abuse and street violence.
Purchased the facilities at 6510 Berkman Dr., Austin, Texas 78723. Mr. Gary Bradley through the Riverbend Baptist Church made a significant contribution toward the purchase.

Thirty men, twenty-five children, and twenty-nine women lead by Pastor Lands marched from 7517 Cameron Road to 6510 Berkman Dr., where they were met by the waiting congregation.

Rites of Passage Development Inc. Opened for business with Bro. Deone Wilhite, Executive Director.
The Austin Real Estate Council’s Christmas in October Project completely renovated the Greater Calvary Academy building.
Deacon Charles Cole, Deacon Charles Henry, Bro. Louis Simms, Rev. Maurice Youmans, Bro. Emory Washington, Deacon Michael White, and Bro. Deone Wilhite along with other African American Males from Austin attended the Million Man March “Day of Atonement” in Washington D.C.
The Texas Commerce Bank provided a grant that allowed the installation of a new metal roof on three of our five buildings.
Incorporation of Greater Calvary Academy
Greater Calvary Academy First day of class with Sis. Lisa Terrell as instructor and director. 1st student, Amber E.M. Scott.
Modifications to the sanctuary and baptistery were dedicated. Project manager: Sam Chappell
Founding elder Deaconess Ora Lee Sterling went to be with the Lord.
Established an on-site social service program at the Gardens of Decker Lake and Meadow Glen Apartment Complexes.
Opened the Greater Calvary Food Pantry.
